FERTILITY NUTRITION

Nutrition & Lifestyle for Optimal Fertility

My name is Mandy; I am a registered Midwife who chooses to work independently of but alongside the NHS offering individulised holistic maternity and pre-conception care.

Over the years as a midwife, I have developed a keen interest in the importance of good nutrition, lifestyle and exercise not only for pregnancy but also pre-conception for optimal fertility. This has led me to study nutrition and holistic fertility further.

Consultation

Once you have booked your consultation, I will send/email you a health and lifestyle questionnaire and food diary which should be completed and returned a week before you are due to come in. This will allow me to thoroughly prepare for the initial consultation.

During the consultation I will ask more questions in order to get a detailed picture of your current health. I then aim to work with yourself and your partner to analyse your diet and lifestyle in order to aid optimal fertility.

Together we will agree a plan that may include subtle changes in your diet and lifestyle to enhance your fertility success. The plan will include dietary guidelines, lifestyle recommendations and advice on food supplements if these will benefit you

The Follow-up Consultation

A follow-up consultation should be booked 4 weeks after the initial session. During this appointment we will discuss your progress and make any necessary changes to your nutritional and lifestyle plan. If appropriate, further appointments may be booked at monthly intervals if you feel this may benefit you.

Fees

Appointments are charged at £65 for the initial consultation which lasts around an hour (this includes pre-analysis of your diet and health questionnaire) and £50 per follow-up (approx 45 mins).

Mandy Bellenger RM

Mandy Bellenger

It is my aim to work with couples throughout their journey into parenthood, offering my professional advice and care on an individulised basis for optimal fertility.

At this point, the biggest question for those of you who have been trying to conceive for a while will be: why am I not getting pregnant and what more can I do to help myself? There is no general answer to these questions; we are all individuals with differing needs, beliefs and ideas. Each couples fertility journey will have been different to this point in time. Some may have spent a long time trying to conceive and some may only just be beginning.

Wherever you may lie along this journey, it is my aim to aid you in obtaining an optimal nutritional and lifestyle balance to enhance your fertility and improve your chances of getting pregnant.

Eating a healthy diet prior to pregnancy is just as important as eating healthily while pregnant. If you're trying to get pregnant, you never know exactly when you may fall pregnant, so it makes sense to adopt a healthy nutritional and lifestyle balance beforehand. This will not only boost your chances of conception, but make adapting to a healthy diet and lifestyle during pregnancy much easier.

Your partner's diet and lifestyle will also affect your chances of conception. So, trying for a baby is an excellent time for you both to evaluate your diet and lifestyle and make any changes. With this in mind, you may both decide to come along for a consultation if possible. Although this would be ideal, I understand that with work and lifestyle commitments attendance with your partner may not always be possible, fear not, I aim to arm you with plenty of info for your partner to consider!

asterixI must strongly point out that any natural holistic advice given will aim to compliment conventional healthcare not replace it.
